Tree safety inspection

A tree owner is obliged to care for a tree. This entails that a tree should be visually inspected by an expert periodically and systematically. Security checks are carried out using the VTA method (Visual Tree Assessment), supplemented by the German IBA method (Integrated Tree Analysis). The visual tree parts above ground and the direct surroundings are assessed visually, with special care for unusual aberrations, damages or symptoms that suggest mechanical defects. After detection of defects, plans can be made to minimize the risks for safety. This could include pruning, increased frequency of safety inspections or a specific tree survey.
